The zodiac cartoons for 2013 are from the Magical Child series. The Aquarius Waterbearer is a happy little alien from another planet, who is pouring out stars and stardust from his urn. If he's from "way out there," well, so are you at times. And you probably like being unique and unconventional

Your penchant for being unconventional can take many and varied forms, and how strongly it shows in your personality can vary according to whether Aquarius is your dominant sign, or if (for example) other signficant planets or points might be in the neighboring sign of Capricorn, which is noted for being conventional. Still the Sun sign is important—it’s how you shine—so if you’ve thought that somehow you just don’t quite fit in with the general run of others around you, that’s your Aquarian nature coming through.

You’re an independent type who needs to be free to go your own way. You chafe under rules or restrictions imposed by others, and can sometimes be quite willing to break them. At the same time, a sense of personal integrity is important to you. While you are willing to take a risk, you’re not inclined to be rash about it. Your element is air, not fire, and air is logical. You’ll think through what you want to do, such that you will both know and be able to articulate quite well WHY you are challenging the expected norm. Your mode (quality of action) is fixed, which means that once you’ve adopted a new point of view, you can be quite persistent, even stubborn, about your advocacy of it. You are likely to participate—or take the lead–in new perspectives that can help change the world for the better and become part of major paradigm shifts.

Cycles

The following cycles are based on your sun sign and represent general trends over the next year. Jupiter is in Gemini for your Aquarius birthday 2013. This “great benefic” will be retrograde for birthdays from Jan. 19 through 29, but then turn direct in the wee hours of the morning on January 30, and continue moving direct through all remaining 2013 Aquarius birthdays. Since Aquarius and Gemini are both Air signs, they form a trine when close in degrees. This is a quite favorable aspect to
begin your year ahead, so enjoy and make the most of it! Jupiter is in your Solar House 5. Matters of this house include creative activities, love relationships, children, luck and things you enjoy.

In June 2013, Jupiter will move into the sign of Cancer, your solar House 6, the house of your daily work and your heath. As Jupiter rises to the 5th degree in mid July it will form a close trine to Saturn in Scorpio, combining the expansiveness of Jupiter with the responsibility and structure of Saturn. This might could reflect a time of opportunity in your work, possibly advancement. Or it could be a good time to take action to improve your health—such as a diet or exercise program. Jupiter continues in Cancer/solar House 6 through the remainder of this solar year. Do take advantage of this time to work toward improvements in your health and work.

Saturn is in Scorpio as your 2013 solar year begins, just entering the second decan at 11 degrees. For Aquarians birthdays Jan. 29-Feb. 1, this is a close square of Saturn to Sun. Squares can be positive, even to Saturn, when you are assuming responsibility for whatever is going on in your life.

Saturn is in your solar House 10, so the area of challenge could have to do with your career, or possibly a parent. In a way, this aspect is a test of your methods in handling the structures of your life. If you are feeling stressed or discouraged, it is a signal that some changes need to be made. If so, know that you have the inner strength to to handle what needs to be done. So face up to it and take steps to improve the existing situation, or perhaps make the decision to separate from it and move on. If your methods and goals are good ones, you can make solid progress during this transit.

If your Sun degree is very early or late Scorpio, you will not experience the full square this year, though do consider the significance of Saturn in Solar House 10. In career matters, Saturn transiting House 10 often means that additional responsibilities are be required of you. Accept them and do your very best to handle them well. This can be a highly productive period, if you choose to make it so.

Uranus, the planetary ruler of your Sun sign, is in Aries for your entire solar year. This is your solar 3rd house, a harmonious sign relationship to Aquarius. House 3 is about your daily routines in your daily environment. If your day-to-day life is fairly predictable and comfortable, then expect that some things you’ve taken for granted in your day-to-day life may no longer be as reliable, leaving you wondering if you can depend on anything anymore. But try not to be upset about changes—flow with them! If you are flexible and open to new people, new experiences and new ideas, you’re likely to find that these years of transiting Uranus are quite interesting and even exciting. The more you open yourself to new ideas and possibilities the more you will grow—and the more fun you can have, too.

The above is a more general interpretation for Uranus in Solar House 3. If your birthday is between January 25 through February 4, your Sun degree will at some point between now and 2015 be in the range of close aspect by an ongoing square of transiting Uranus to transiting Pluto that becomes exact 7 times between mid 2012 and March of 2015. Much has been written about this—try an online search and you’ll find many articles speculating on what this square might mean in international affairs. If this square is also in close aspect within your natal chart, you’re likely to be experiencing some significant change in your own life, too. The basic principle of Uranus-Pluto combines the sudden and unexpected of Uranus with the transformative change and upheaval that is Pluto. Of course some such changes can—and have been—looked back on as very positive, even when they were anticipated or in process, with resistance or fear. We are all limited as to what we can do about major changes happening on the national or world stage. As individuals we have power to choose how we will respond. If we flow with change, we can most always find a way to make it work out OK for us. Be open and flexible as you look for opportunity within change and you’re far more likely to be able to make it work out well for you and those close to you.

Neptune will be in Pisces throughout your solar year, ranging from 3 degrees up to 5, retrograde in June, then down to 3 again, with a direct station in mid December, and down to 1 by your 2013 birthday. Neptune is transiting your solar House 2, the house of money, possessions and personal values. If your work is of a Neptunian nature—creative, artistic —this could be a time when you can make money with it. At this same time, Neptune is rather contrary to the idea of commercialism. Its theme includes detachment from such things, This is not at all to say you could lack resources during this transit, but just that this should not be your primary concern. Part of the lesson of Neptune in the 2nd is to learn that true security comes not from what you have, but what you are within—your own personal resources.

A possible challenge of Neptune in solar House 3 could be in learning to combine your imagination, fantasies and dreams with logic and the objective realities of your daily life. It’s best if you can blend these apparent opposites with a balance that has room for both. This might be a good time for you to delve into a metaphysical topic and seek to develop any latent psychic abilities you may have, Whatever you seek to learn now, the presence of Neptune in your 3rd, might mean you learn more intuitively than usual

In anything you do now, do it because it is “right”—and fits your inner or spiritual quest, or fulfills your dreams, or serves an artistic purpose. Then trust that you will have what you need in material necessities to accomplish that work.

Pluto in Capricorn will be transiting your solar House 12 for years to come. Pluto is about transformation, and has a way of purging to the depths of whatever area of life it is transiting. This can be a transit in which whatever aspects of yourself you’ve been hiding or denying can sneak out of the closet where you have to see them, whether you like it or not. What is needed is to understand what is happening, and then if changes within you are called for, face them honestly and do the necessary inner work.

Be sure you also read the Uranus interpretation so that you are aware of the significant Uranus Pluto square that is active from now into 2015.

During the years Pluto transits your solar House 12, it is important to give yourself the time and space to look inward. Dreams and intuitions that you can only access in silence, away from the static of a busy life, are especially significant to you now. You are learning self-mastery by testing yourself and your world against your personal vision. Pluto, at best, is about self-mastery. Spiritual work can greatly aid the transformations that are occurring. Your world may not be perfect, but know that you have the power to make it beautiful—at least most of the time.
