NEW MOON REPORT
by Maritha Pottenger
July 30, 2000
July managed to have two New Moons in one month-both eclipses! So, expect
extra emphasis where this eclipse falls in your chart. Solar eclipses offer opportunities for new beginnings, to shine
in fresh ways, but too much ego or unconsciousness can lead to being "eclipsed" (overshadowed) in life. Look
to the house of your personal horoscope that is occupied by this New Moon for matters in high focus and where your
chance to do something significant lies.
New Moon (and Solar Eclipse) at 8 Leo 12, Sunday, July 30 at 7:25 PM PDT
Look for your openings to garner admiration, appreciation, and applause. Positive feedback can come your way. Be willing
to take the center stage. Perhaps it is time for your "five minutes of fame." Sparkle, dynamism, and
generosity could increase. This New Moon is particularly relevant for people born around July 29-August 3; October
30-November 3; January 27-31; or April 27-May 1.
Mars enters Leo, Monday, July 31 at 6:21 PM PDT
Celebrate a bit. The planet of action entering the sign of creativity, romance, fun, and frolic is an excellent time to
kick up your heels a bit. Charisma is stronger and promotional skills come a bit easier. Your ability to entertain
others is likely to increase. Energy is high for fiery, exciting, thrilling activities. You may risk for greater gain.
Venus enters Virgo, Sunday, August 6 at 10:32 AM PDT
A serious, sober motif enters in terms of love and money. Venus in Virgo is excellent for working well, being
productive, taking satisfaction in what you do. In terms of relationships, it is imperative to keep the flaw-finding
focus (of Virgo) directed toward things or projects rather than toward people. Remember the classic comment: "A
husband (or wife) is not a home improvement project."
Mercury enters Leo, Sunday, August 6 at 10:42 PM PDT
Tell those fish stories. Have fun! You can communicate with flash, flair and dash. A tendency toward dramatic
exaggeration is present, but sometimes stretching the facts is needed to get an emotional impact. This is the time to
talk to the media, do promotional activities, and get recognition through your intellectual skills.
Saturn enters Gemini, Wednesday, August 9 at 7:25 PM PDT
Your labors center on the world of the mind. This is excellent for writing, working with files, paperwork, media,
commerce, transportation, or information in any form. You can put data to practical use. Now is the time to be
professional in what you say (and how you say it) and what you write. Do not let critical tendencies get out of hand
(blocked or inhibited expression). Do get tangible results through using your brain
Full Moon at 22 Aquarius 41, Monday, August 14 at 10:13 PM PDT
This Full Moon is significant for people born around February 9-15; May 10-17; August 12-19 or November 12-18. The
polarities that need to be balanced include the head and heart (passions versus intellect); freedom and closeness
(independent action versus committed connections); and being special versus being equal. Originality and creativity are
highlighted.
Pluto turns direct, Sunday, August 20 at 12:15 PM PDT
The planet of catharsis, intense emotional issues and transforming negatives into positives enters a new cycle (which
lasts until March 17, 2001). Be more open about matters that lurk beneath the surface. Dig into your feelings (and those
of people around you). Pay attention to nonverbal cues and you'll be more effective. Investments, loans, business
financing and other matters involving shared resources may require attention.
Mercury enters Virgo, Tuesday, August 22 at 3:11 AM PDT
The sensible focus grows. The planet of thinking and communication (and paperwork) enters the sign of pragmatism, hard
work, dedication to details, and good craftsmanship. Left-brain reasoning is featured. Logic and rationality are
stronger. Common sense is your best resource.
Sun enters Virgo, Tuesday, August 22 at 12:49 PM PDT
Get positive attention through your work or health. The Sun-which loves to shine-is emphasizing productivity, tangible
accomplishments, and humble service. In an ironic twist, some people will seek recognition for their skills at being so
efficient that they are hardly noticed! Arenas for attention (positive and negative) will involve physical well-being
(or challenges or hypochondria) or practical achievements. The current motto is likely to be: "If it is worth
doing, it is worth doing well."
