NEW MOON REPORT
by Maritha Pottenger
March 24, 2001

New Moons are traditionally propitious for beginning new projects. This is particularly so when the New Moon occurs in Aries-the first sign of the zodiac. Projects featuring entrepreneurial instincts, courage, self-reliance, independence, tools, weapons, athletics, personal desires, or anything that allows you to live your life more on your own terms would be favored.

New Moon at 4 Aries 28, Saturday March 24, at 5:22 PM PST.
It is time for a new chapter-particularly anything that will add to your freedom and self-determination. You may want to take physical action, or do something on behalf of your body. The time is ripe to begin a project that will come to fruition in about a year. This New Moon is especially significant for people born around March 23-28, June 24-29, September 25-30, or December 25-29.

Jupiter trine Neptune, Thursday, April 5, at 7:25 AM PDT.
Idealism is highlighted. The goals of your head and heart are easier to align. This is an excellent time to use visualization skills and to project ahead. Concentrate on your dreams for the future, and take steps toward making them manifest. You can "go with the flow." Luck, opportunity, and imagination are on your side. Your compassion, intuition, sensitivity, aesthetic skills, or flights of fancy could contribute to success.

Venus Retrograde, Thursday, March 8 at 5:08 PM PST.
With the planet of love (and money, resources and pleasures) retrograde, caution is advisable in regard to romance and major purchases. Most people would advise against making any significant financial or relationship decisions until after Venus is direct on April 19th. (Unfortunately, the American IRS will not accept that as an excuse to avoid mailing in your income taxes!)

Mercury enters Aries, Friday, April 6, at 00:15 (12:15 AM) PDT.
Direct, forthright speech is likely. This is excellent for thinking on your feet and doing well in off-the-cuff situations. Less constructively, words could be used as weapons-biting, ironic, sarcastic. You reason quickly and may speak rapidly as well. For anyone trying to develop assertive instincts, this is the best time to speak up for yourself. For others, be aware that tact requires more effort; blunt expression feels very appropriate.

Full Moon at 18 Libra 22, Saturday, April 7, at 8:23 PM PDT.
Relationships are highlighted. This is a time to look at the dance between self and other, the balancing act between assertion and accommodation. Too much on one side, and you give in, appease, and try to please others all the time. Too much on the other side, and you resist compromise, insisting too much upon your own way. A middle ground is vital. This combination is well directed into interpersonal exchanges, negotiations, or the active creation of beauty. The Full Moon is extra significant for people born around October 10-14, January 7-11, April 7-11, or July 9-13.

Sun enters Taurus, Thursday, April 19, at 5:37 PM PDT.
Positive attention could come through what you earn, own, or enjoy. You may shine through material matters, or a skill at making other people comfortable. Sensual pleasures are apt to be sweeter and more satisfying. Ambitions are grounded, and a willingness to hang in there is accented.

Venus goes direct, Thursday, April 19, at 9:35 PM PDT.
Now that the planet of love, pleasure, and material resources is direct, you can take care of any major purchases or relationship decisions that you have been postponing. Since Venus remains in Aries, an active pursuit of money, gratification, and comfort is appropriate. Please yourself.

Saturn enters Gemini, Friday, April 20, at 3:00 PM PDT.
The planet of reality enters the sign of thinking, communication and paperwork. This is a time to be extra practical about commercial manners, and to take pains with what you say and write to people. A more subdued, cautious approach should prevail in terms of business, particularly anything having to do with telecommunications, transportation, education, and other Mercury-ruled pursuits. Doing something tangible with your intellect is favored-so writing, research, etc., would be good ideas.

Mercury enters Taurus, Saturday, April 21 at 1:09 PM PDT.
The planet of thinking and talking enters the sign of patience, endurance, and pleasure-seeking. You may enjoy collecting and disseminating information-getting satisfaction in the roles of both student and teacher. You can use words with a bit more grace and beauty, or write more (wanting tangible output with an earth sign). You are likely to think before speaking, to deliberate about the best way to express things. You can put others at ease.
