NEW MOON REPORT
by Maritha Pottenger
July 20, 2001
This is the second New Moon in Cancer this year, so the family focus is
extra strong. Similarly, your home, real estate, food, shelter, clothing, history, preservation, protection,
nourishment, and nurturing are highlighted. This is a time to guard what you have. Take the initiative to consolidate
what matters most to you and to strengthen the ties that bind.
New Moon at 28 Cancer 08, Friday, July 20 at 12:45 PM PDT.
New beginnings are possible in matters pertaining to the public or any commodities that serve the public, caretaking
endeavors, domestic concerns, or family activities. Seek out opportunities in regard to your home and family or catering
to the basic needs of others. This New Moon is extra significant for people born around July 19-24, October 20-24,
January 17-21, or April 17-21.
Sun enters Leo, Sunday, July 22 at 11:27 AM PDT.
Find your place to shine! The Sun wants to be a Star, and its sojourn in Leo is the best time to be creative and
garner positive recognition, admiration, and applause. Any activities that allow you to be front and center are favored.
Sales, advertising, promotion, theater, artistic performances, and taking (reasonable) risks for greater gain are apt to
go well. Charisma is highlighted.
Mercury enters Leo, Monday, July 30 at 3:19 AM PDT.
As the planet of communication enters Leo as well, conversations may become more scintillating. Zest and sparkle pervade
the mental realm. People may write or speak in an entertaining fashion, with verve and flair. Flattery could be out in
full force. People are eager to persuade and convince one another. Sincere appreciation, compliments, and generosity are
also likely.
Venus enters Cancer, Wednesday, August 1 at 5:19 AM PDT.
Pleasure (and/or finances) are connected to Moon-ruled items. We may return to real estate, commodities, antiques,
family heirlooms or other money-making prospects. Of course, we may also just overeat—enjoying food in excess. A
relaxed, comfortable approach to family matters is possible.
Full Moon at 11 Aquarius 56, Friday, August 3 at 10:57 PM PDT.
Creativity is on an upswing, but you could feel torn between hanging out with like-minded people or trying to keep the
limelight and starring role for yourself. The balance between loved ones and friends, head and heart will come up for
examination. This Full Moon is extra significant for people born around January 30-February 3, April 30-May 4, August
2-6, or November 2-6.
Saturn opposes Pluto, Sunday, August 5 at 10:21 AM PDT.
Be careful! This is a power-oriented combination, so the Boss from H--- is one down side—or downturns in the Market
and other unpleasant ramification in terms of joint resources. (“Neither a borrower nor a lender be” is excellent
advice.) Work within the system, keep your head low, and be sensible whenever you must share resources with others.
Mercury enters Virgo, Monday, August 13 at 10:05 PM PDT.
“Just the facts, ma’am.” Thinking can be quite analytical and detail-oriented. This is an excellent time to do
copy editing, filing, repairs, or anything that requires a careful eye and an organized mind. You are more aware of the
fine print, and function well as the efficiency expert—seeing the flaws and knowing how to make things better. You can
bring order out of chaos.
Jupiter quincunxes Neptune, Wednesday, August 15 at 12:42 (00:42) AM PDT.
Idealistic motifs are highlighted, and people are apt to go overboard with dreams or
fantasies. This is a time to stay very grounded. If something seems too good to be true, it is! Don’t get sucked in by
a con artist or someone’s delusions of grandeur. An artistic outlet or spiritual activities would provide a healthy
channel of expression for this combination.
