NEW MOON REPORT
November 14, 2001
by Maritha Pottenger
The New Moon in intense, intimate, investigative Scorpio emphasizes
opportunities for initiation in matters pertaining to joint resources, research, psychological depth, or gaining a
better understanding of power issues.
New Moon at 22 Scorpio 58, Wednesday, November 14, at 10:41 PM PST.
New Moons are favored times for new beginnings, particularly if your project is likely to come to fruition in
about a month or in one year. This is a time to get extra training in financial management or take the initiative
in regard to wise investing. You may also choose to start a new chapter in regard to sexual matters, sharing with
a mate, or the exercise of your self-control and self-mastery (e.g., stopping smoking, changing your diet,
beginning an exercise program, etc.).
Sun enters Sagittarius, Wednesday, November 21, at 10:02 PM PST.
Time to shine through your wisdom! The Sun is a symbol of our personal Star Power, and we can best exercise it in
Sagittarius by pursuing Truth. Quest motifs are accented, so travel, more education, expanding your world view,
greater involvement with religious or idealistic matters, or anything that broadens your horizons physically,
mentally, or spiritually is appropriate. Acting on faith may be necessary.
Mercury enters Sagittarius, Monday, November 26, at 10:25 AM PST.
Communication skills are emphasized, particularly the silver tongue and the comedian. This combination is more
persuasive than many-ranging from the skilled teacher to the facile con artist. A knack for humor is probable.
This placement shines in the collection and wide dispersal of information and knowledge. Mental restlessness and
love of variety are accentuated.
Jupiter quincunx Pluto, Monday, November 26, at 4:03 PM PST.
Polarities are accented, so resist the temptation to swing between two extremes, or to play out one side while
someone close to you expresses the opposite. The challenge is to find a happy, healthy middle ground between
confidence ("God is on my side") and caution (a tendency to obsess over the Dark Side), between seeking
new adventures versus hanging on and finishing up old projects, between freedom (and the open road) versus close,
intimate connections. With integration, you can do excellently in terms of both breadth and depth, and take
well-calculated risks for greater gain.
Full Moon at 8 Gemini 43, Friday, November 30, at 12:50 PM PST.
This month began (late Halloween night in California, but the wee hours of the early morning of November 1 on the
East Coast) with a Full Moon in Taurus/Scorpio, and it ends with a Full Moon in Gemini/Sagittarius. Emotions are
highlighted, and feelings are likely to be more sensitive. We move from the darker, more serious motifs at the
beginning of November, to more lighthearted, humor modes by the end of the month. Curiosity is in full bore, so
the urge to explore many different ideas (and possibly other cultures) is highlighted.
Venus enters Sagittarius, Sunday, December 2, at 3:13 AM PST.
When the planet of love and pleasure enters the sign of bigger and better, people can get carried away. This is an
extravagant, indulgent placement, and it is easy to spend money. "Falling in love with love" or seeing
someone as better than they actually are is also possible. This combination can be well directed toward sociable
activities, enjoying travel or any kind of learning, or relationships that are inspiring or enlarge your world
view.
Mars enters Pisces, Saturday, December 8, at 1:53 PM PST.
Action becomes more soft and subtle. Mars in Pisces does well with dance, Tai Chi, or any graceful sports. Putting
beauty into motion is natural. For people who are already inclined to put others first, be aware of
self-sacrificing tendencies. Fighting for an ideal or a higher cause may help. Assertion on behalf of beauty or
compassion is a positive expression of this placement. |
