NEW MOON REPORT
December 14, 2001
by Maritha Pottenger
The New Moon this month is also a solar eclipse, giving heightened emphasis
to Sag principles. So, questions of education, philosophy, beliefs, values, foreign countries, adventure, and
expansion will be in higher focus. Our challenge is to find a way to shine, to bring illumination and excitement
to these topics, rather than feeling eclipsed or overshadowed. (The Full Moon this month is also a lunar eclipse,
so emotions in general are heightened.)
New Moon (& Eclipse) at 22 Sagittarius 56, Friday, December 14, 2001
at 12:48 PM PST.
An opportunity for a new beginning is present. This will be particularly significant for people born around
December 14-18; March 13-18; June 12-18; or September 15-20. A new chapter is possible in regard to education,
inspiration, beliefs, values, and the pursuit of ultimate Truth. Questing motifs are highlighted. Searching and
seeking are emphasized.
Mercury enters Capricorn, Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 7:56 AM PST.
Practical thinking is probable. A businesslike attitude will serve best. Pragmatic concerns deserve priority.
"Putting it in writing" is an excellent idea. Now is a good time to be sure that your records are in
order, to double-check that you'll have all the information you need, e.g., for next year's taxes, etc. Facts rule
over fancy. Realistic communication is preferred.
Sun enters Capricorn, Friday, December 21, 2001 at 11:23 AM PST.
The urge to accomplish grows stronger. The Sun's need to shine will be channeled through Capricorn's ambitions and
drive for power. People will want recognition and positive attention for what they achieve. The urge to take
charge, to push the world around, and be a mover, shaker, and doer is apt to increase. Wield your influence wisely
and well for best results.
Venus enters Capricorn, Tuesday, December 25, 2001 at 11:26 PM PST.
Common sense should rule with regard to love and money. When the planet of pleasure enters the sign of hard work
and caution, it is a time to be sensible in relationships and in regard to material matters. Business partnerships
could become more significant, or relationships may incorporate a larger component of shared efforts or a focus on
joint achievements. Budgeting and delayed gratification could play a more important role. Satisfaction is tied to
doing the right thing and being practical. Christmas Day-a celebration of divine love and forgiveness-draws to a
close with a focus on being appropriate, dedicated, comfortable with structure, and finding pleasure in tangible
achievements.
Full Moon (& Eclipse) at 8 Cancer 48, Sunday, December 30, 2001 at
2:42 AM PST.
Full Moons emphasize relationships and the balancing of polarities. Emotions are apt to be heightened since this
Full Moon is also a lunar eclipse. Here, the focus is on finding a happy medium between domesticity and
outer-world accomplishments, between dominance and dependency, between compassion and the bottom line. Family
connections are more important, especially for people born around June 29-July 4; October 1-5; December 30-January
3; or March 28-April 2. Looking back and mulling over the past will have strong appeal. Memories and reminiscences
prevail.
Mercury enters Aquarius, Thursday, January 3, 2002 at 1:39 PM PST.
Thinking becomes more outrageous and unconventional. People can "break the rules" in terms of how they
communicate or the way they perceive the world. Unconventional approaches are more common in handling information.
New technology is encouraged, and a wide range of interests is likely. This is an opportunity to break new ground,
to throw out the old and bring in the new in terms of intellectual practices. Excitement and originality are tied
to the mind. |
