NEW MOON REPORT
September 6, 2002
by Maritha Pottenger
The New Moon this month features a square
between Virgo (Sun/Moon) and Sagittarius (Pluto)-emphasizing the need to reconcile
visionary idealism and big dreams with practical, efficient actions. Looking ahead and
planning well will help ensure success in the real world.
New Moon at 14 Virgo 20, September 6,
2002, at 8:11 PM PDT.
New Moons are propitious times for initiating action. In Virgo, the emphasis is on
projects that will improve your physical health and well-being or on anything relating to
work, productivity, pragmatic results, and efficiency. This New Moon is particularly
significant for people born around September 5-10, December 5-10, March 4-8, or June 3-7.
The emphasis is on common sense-that uncommon commodity! With Pluto squaring the New Moon,
take care to make sure that monetary and investment matters are sensibly handled, that you
are aware of people's hidden agendas, and to sidestep power struggles and refuse to be
intimidated or manipulated.
Venus enters Scorpio, September 7, 2002,
at 8:06 PM PDT.
Passions are on the rise. The planet of love enters the sign of emotional intensity.
Sensual and sexual drives are likely to rise. Loyalty is accentuated (although jealousy
and possessiveness are the downside risk). Now is the time to make love with great gusto
and to savor the pleasures of living in a physical body. Investment, royalties, consulting
income, and other activities in which your resources come through (or are involved with)
other people's are likely.
Jupiter opposes Neptune, September 11,
2002, at 5:07 AM PDT.
We are likely to mark this anniversary with much soul-searching. The two planets
relating to religion, spirituality, ethics, moral principles, and questions of greatest
good are aspecting one another. We will be examining our visions for the future, and
questioning the meaning of life and what we hold most dear. The emphasis is on determining
Truth, Beauty, and our ultimate beliefs. Meditation, spiritual quests, and any activities
that accent the search for understanding and enlightenment are probable.
Mercury turns retrograde, September 14,
2002, at 12:39 PM PDT.
Mercury retrograde periods are times to be more cautious in regard to possible errors
in scheduling, paperwork, and communication. Confirm appointments. Double-check any fine
print. Copy edit twice. This period (which lasts until October 6) is excellent for going
over anything and for digging, researching, revising and improving.
Full Moon at 28 Pisces 25, September 21,
2002, at 7:00 AM PDT.
Full Moon periods emphasize the reconciling of opposites-going through the process of
thesis, antithesis, synthesis. With the Virgo/Pisces opposition, we are working to find
the balance point between nitty-gritty details and the Cosmic Whole, between imagination
and pragmatism, between idealism and realism, between the spiritual and the material. This
Full Moon is particularly significant for people born around March 18-23, June 18-23,
September 20-24, or December 19-24. Two excellent paths of integration involve the
healer/helper or the artist/craftsperson.
Mercury enters Virgo, October 2, 2002,
at 2:27 AM PDT.
The planet of thinking and communication returning (by retrograde) to its rulership
sign is excellent for careful and precise reasoning, accurate handling of details,
technical writing, or any intellectual endeavors that require logic, analysis, and
efficiency. We may use language with great care and exactitude. We may be very productive
in terms of output (writing, talking, other mental tasks). Common sense is more readily
available (as are nit-picking and flaw-finding). Problem-solving skills are highlighted.
We are eager to repair, enhance, and improve.
