NEW MOON REPORT
December 3, 2002
by Maritha Pottenger
New Moons offer opportunities-particularly
for initiation. Beginnings are apt to center around inspirational or enlightening
activities in Sagittarius. The urge to broaden horizons is strong-whether it leads to
travel, wheeling and dealing, religious or spiritual quests, contact with other cultures
or countries, or other mentally expansive pursuits.
New Moon & Eclipse at 11 Sagittarius
58, December 3, at 11:35 PM PST.
Although an eclipse intensifies this New Moon, the other planets are not really
involved. (Pluto is 5 degrees away.) This offers a chance to evaluate your future plans.
The visionary perspective of Sagittarius can provide the impetus for lots of positive
action, provided your initial dream is clear. Take the time to set well-defined goals and
identify the steps needed to achieve them. Then, trust that lots of energy and confidence
will be available to pursue them! This would be an excellent time to begin an
inspirational project that will culminate in about a year.
Jupiter turns retrograde, Wednesday,
December 4, at 4:23 AM PST.
A new chapter is possible in regard to beliefs, values, religion, philosophy, or
long-range goals. Look to the house in your horoscope with Sagittarius on the cusp;
changes could occur in regard to that arena. This phase is likely to last until Jupiter
turns direct (April 3, 2003).
Mercury enters Capricorn, Sunday,
December 8, at 12:22 PM PST.
The "bottom line" is extra important to people. Communication is apt to
focus more on practicalities or business matters. Pragmatism reigns. A more serious
attitude is likely. Words are put to work in the world.
Saturn trines Uranus, Monday, December
16, at 1:36 PM PST.
An opportunity arises to bring together the best of the old and the new, of innovation
and tradition, or the past and the future. This is a chance to get conventional and
unconventional approaches working together-the best of both worlds.
Jupiter trines Pluto, Wednesday,
December 18, at 5:21 AM PST.
Over indulgence is possible. High hopes are likely in regard to intimacy, joint
resources, and investments. Luck or opportunity is available. A combination of depth and
breadth will be most effective. The dark side potential would be getting carried away with
a materialistic or hedonistic focus.
Full Moon at 27 Gemini 42, Thursday,
December 19, at 11:11 AM PST.
Emotional motifs are serious since Saturn conjoins the Moon for this Full Moon. Old
karmic habit patterns may need to be mastered. Fears (of abandonment, control, failure,
etc.) could well up and require attention. People's emotional buttons around
communication, language, religion, philosophy, and belief systems will probably be
triggered. The challenge is to find a happy balance between practicality and emotional
warmth.
Sun enters Capricorn, Saturday, December
21, at 5:15 PM PST.
Achievement is more important. The urge is to shine through tangible
accomplishments-putting those footprints in the sand, making an impact on society or in
your community. A willingness to work hard is indicated, but the primary drive is for
success in the outer world, measured through material means.
Saturn sesqui-squares Neptune, Monday,
December 30, at 2:31 PM PST.
Idealism and realism are at odds. Too much Saturn and we hold back, feel inadequate,
and are afraid to try things. Too much Neptune, and we are gullible, susceptible, and too
inclined to believe in "happily ever after" images. Look for ways to combine
vision and hard work or practical planning and inspired action.
Mercury turns retrograde, Thursday,
January 2, 2003, at 10:20 AM PST.
Common sense is advisable in regard to commerce and communications. Confirm
appointments. Be extra careful with paperwork and details. Make sure directions are clear.
This is an excellent period in which to revise, reexamine, reevaluate, and otherwise go
over and fine-tune your work. This retrograde cycle lasts until January 22, 2003.
