NEW MOON REPORT
January 2, 2003
by Maritha Pottenger
The New Moon of opportunity will be in
getting-down-to-business Capricorn on January 2, 2003-an auspicious time for bringing
resolutions made into material form. The planning and pragmatism of Capricorn can help to
ensure that a number of ventures come to a fruitful conclusion. The fact that Mercury
turns retrograde just before the New Moon reminds us to double-check all planning,
paperwork, preparations, and communications.
New Moon 12 Capricorn 01, January 2,
2003, at 12:24 PM PST.
This New Moon will be octile (semi-square) Uranus, suggesting caution around potential
unexpected monkey wrenches entering the mix. Since Mercury is about to turn retrograde, it
could be that not reading the small print or missing details in terms of appointments,
planning, or communications is the culprit. By using the full organizational and practical
skills of Capricorn, you should be able to take full advantage of the potentials for
success and manifestation that are present. This New Moon is particularly significant for
people born around January 1-5, April 1-5, July 1-7 or October 3-8.
Mercury retrograde, Thursday, January 2,
2003, at 10:20 AM PST.
Mercury retrograde periods are excellent for revisions, reexaminations, reviews and
research. Mercury will turn direct again January 22. Some people prefer not to sign
contracts during a Mercury retrograde period. Caution and extra care is recommended
regarding minor details-particularly in terms of commerce and communication.
Venus enters Sagittarius, Tuesday,
January 7, 2003, at 5:08 AM PST.
With the planet of love and pleasure entering the sign of adventure and far horizons,
you may be ready to take a trip-or "take a flyer" in terms of romance. The
faraway has extra appeal. People with a "foreign flavor" or bent for daring may
be more alluring. Extravagance (in terms of love and money) comes more easily.
Gratification also can be sought (and found) through books, education, spiritual quests,
and pursuit of the Greatest Good.
Mars enters Sagittarius, Thursday,
January 16, 2003, at 8:23 PM PST.
A risk-taking motif is accentuated. The urge for adventure arises. A need to explore
is highlighted. You may express that physically, mentally, emotionally, and/or
spiritually. Going where no one has gone before has strong appeal. What is novel, faraway,
or involves an element of taking chances will be enticing. Physical activity and movement
are more important. You might be tempted to risk (financially, emotionally, etc.) for
greater gain.
Full Moon 27 Cancer 55, Saturday,
January 18, 2003, at 2:49 AM PST.
The lunar opposition offers a chance to balance polarities in our lives, particularly
with other people. This Full Moon is extra significant for people born around July 17-23,
October 19-23, January 16-20 or April 16-20. The accent is on finding a happy medium
between compassion and the bottom line; between nurturing and being nurtured; between
home/family and work in the outer world.
Sun enters Aquarius, Monday, January 20,
2003, at 3:54 AM PST.
The fiery Sun entering rebellious, revolutionary Aquarius adds to the thrill-seeking
motif that began with Mars in Sagittarius. Pursuits that bring a rush of adrenaline will
move up on the priority list. Creativity and originality are highly valued. Novelty and
variety are pursued. You will want excitement and could either go after positive forms of
it-or attract it in negative forms. Be proactive in bringing constructive thrills into
your life!
Mercury turns direct, Wednesday, January
22, 2003, at 5:09 PM PST.
With Mercury turning direct, the mantra is "full speed ahead," in terms of
facts, figures, paperwork, and communication. Particularly with Mercury in Capricorn, this
is a time to be very clear about plans and projects. Sensible preparation will bring many
ideas into tangible form.
