This year had two New Moons in Aries—one at the very beginning of the sign, and one at the very end of the sign. The second New Moon (April 19) is also an eclipse (solar)—giving it a little extra highlighting from the universe.
New Moon (& Eclipse), 29 Aries 49, Monday, April 19, 2004 at 6:22 AM PDT .
This New Moon is widely conjunct Mercury, bringing in an element of thinking or communication to the traditional time of new beginnings. These beginnings, however, should be with projects that somehow bring self-directed undertakings to a close. (The 29 th degree of a sign is associated with ending matters, with finishing up.) So, take the initiative in order to bring closure to tasks involving metal tools, weapons, assertion, independence, action, or personal will. This New Moon would be more significant for people born around April 18-23, July 21-25, October 21-26, or January 18-23.
Sun into Taurus, Monday, April 19, 2004 at 10:51 AM PDT .
With the Sun's entry into Taurus, we link our self-esteem to our earning capacity and our ability to create comfort and security for ourselves and others. Pride is tied to doing well in the material world. Sensually gratifying exchanges are quite possible. The pleasure principle is in high focus. Ambitions are greater in terms of seeking financial rewards.
Mercury direct, Friday, April 30, 2004 at 6:06 AM PDT .
This is an excellent time to move forward with commerce and communication. Be active and articulate in terms of intellectual matters. If you put off signing contracts during the retrograde period, you can move forward now. Take the initiative with matters involving information.
Jupiter sextile Saturn, Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 1:32 PM PDT .
This is a combination that is often good for business. You can combine confidence and caution, expansion and contraction, in an optimum way. Look for opportunities to enlarge your horizons through practical steps. Mentoring relationships are likely to go well. Shared wisdom pays off.
Full Moon (Lunar Eclipse), 14 Scorpio 42, Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 1:34 PM PDT .
Emotions could get rather intense with this combination. Issues involving questions of money and resources (Who earns it? Who spend it? On what? Who gives how much to whom?) are likely to emerge. The dark side (pessimism and looking at problems) may be in conflict with the urge to keep everything pretty and looking good. The challenge is to face real problems with tact and a pleasant manner. This eclipse could be extra significant for people born around May 3-7, August 5-9, November 5-9, or February 2-6.
Jupiter goes direct, Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 8:08 PM PDT .
A new phase is possible—especially in regard to expansion and further development. Opportunity could knock, particularly in an area related to the house on which Sagittarius appears in your horoscope. This is a time to be assertive about matters involving travel, enlightenment, education, other cultures, philosophy, and other lands.
Mars enters Cancer, Friday, May 7, 2004 at 1:47 AM PDT .
Safety issues become more significant. People want to protect themselves and their loved ones. A little caution or withdrawal is possible. Extra activity within the nest could occur, including a move or major shifts in furniture, furnishings, or domestic circumstances. The action centers on the emotional and familial realm.
Mercury enters Taurus, Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 11:55 PM PDT .
Practical communication is highlighted. This is a businesslike combination that can be straightforward, but still pleasant in conveying information. Commerce and information that center on financial gain or physical comfort are favored. Pragmatic attitudes tend to reign supreme.
Neptune goes retrograde, Monday, May 17, 2004 at 5:14 AM PDT .
A new chapter or phase is likely to begin (and last until Neptune goes direct in late October 2004). Check the house in your horoscope that has Pisces on the cusp. Matters pertaining to that house may be in flux, or new developments are possible.
Venus turns retrograde, Monday, May 17, 2004 at 3:29 PM PDT .
A note of caution emerges regarding love, money, and luxury items. Be wary of major purchases. (You may change your mind later.) Some analysis or looking back over things is probably in order in relationships and financial matters. Common sense is your best resource.
