Cancerian New Moons are propitious times for initiating projects that involve the home, family matters, domestic concerns, the public (especially women), or the seeking of security (emotional or physical). Safety matters are high on the priority list for a Cancer Moon.

New Moon, 14 Cancer 31, Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 5:04 AM PDT.

This New Moon could be particularly significant for people born around July 5-9, January 3-7, April 2-7, or October 6-10. New Moons are usually favorable for initiating action. In this case, starting new projects around the house would be an option. Taking a first step in regard to a family reunion or other significant activities involving our nearest and dearest is also possible. You may want to begin something that involves dealing with the public or helping others (or yourself) to gain more security or enhance safety. Protective motifs are strong. The square to Jupiter favors domestic and familiar over foreign or faraway, but the trine to Uranus suggests potential balance between independence and vulnerability.

Jupiter quincunx Uranus, Friday, July 8, 2005 at 11:22 AM PDT.

Restlessness is on the rise. Two of the planets of freedom are egging each other on. The urge will be to break loose, break free, or take chances. Going for the gusto is likely. Stretching beyond old boundaries and barriers can be a good thing. Just don’t go too far in the quest for excitement, something new, and independence. Breaking new ground intellectually or traveling to somewhere you’ve never been before are constructive options—along with anything that expands your possibilities for being true to yourself and heightening individuality.

Saturn enters Leo, Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 5:32 AM PDT.

The planet of realism and responsibility enters the sign of creativity, love, romance, children, ego, and self-esteem. Saturn remains in Leo until September of 2007. This period of a little over two years would be an excellent time to pursue and achieve measurable results in creative endeavors. Artists may increase their output. People are more likely to be sensible about matters of love. Sometimes, this means people feel depressed, frustrated, or blocked in Leo areas. Pragmatism and pessimism can be overdone. People may be too hard on themselves. The best expression of this placement is to focus on projects that generate tangible output in terms of promotion, relationships with loved ones (including children), and creative self-expression.

Full Moon, 28 Capricorn 47, Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 4:01 AM PDT.

This Full Moon is an opportune time to seek balance between your public and your private life. Deciding how to divide up your time and energy between domestic matters and work in the outer world is an appropriate focus. Sometimes people will combine the two, e.g., by starting a home-based business. A practical approach to family matters is more likely. This Full Moon could be particularly significant for people born around January 17-21, July 19-23, April 17-21, or October 20-24.

The Sun enters Leo, Friday, July 22, 2005 at 10:42 AM PDT.

Drama and excitement become more important. The month when the Sun is in Leo is a great time to promote yourself—or anything that excites you. Look for opportunities to make a splash. Love, romance, children, creative projects, or anything that allows you to do more than you have done before can be satisfying. The urge to gamble, take risks, speculate, or go for a big pay-off, is apt to increase. You’ll have chances to increase your self-esteem and personal pride.

Venus enters Virgo, Friday, July 22, 2005 at 6:02 PM PDT.

When the planet of love, affection, and pleasure enters the sign of work and practicality, we tend to be more sensible and grounded in the relationship realm. Hearts and flowers give way to sensible assessments and balance sheets. Criticism and nit-picking could increase in close partnerships. This combination is best directed toward working partnerships—any one-on-one interactions where the primary focus is on productivity and efficiency. Problem-solving in regard to personnel can go well.

Mercury turns retrograde, Friday, July 22, 2005 at 8:01 PM PDT.

When the planet of commerce and communication goes retrograde, a degree of caution is advisable. Double-check paperwork and beware of overlooking the fine print. Confirm appointments and directions. This period (lasting until August 15, 2005) is an excellent one for review and revisions. Polish your work. Make any appropriate improvements.

Mars enters Taurus, Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 10:13 PM PDT.

With the planet of energy and action entering an earth sign, stamina is likely to increase. You may be able to focus for longer periods of time. Perseverance and follow-through are probably enhanced. Sensuality is also on the upswing, so indulgence is a potential danger. A direct and forthright approach to pleasure-seeking is probable. (You know what you want and are willing to go after it!) Active forms of beauty are favored—along with taking the initiative or gaining greater independence in regard to money and material resources.
