Sagittarius New Moons are auspicious times for pushing your luck. Fortune tends to favor the brave. Initiating action that will broaden your horizons—physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually—is appropriate.

New Moon, 9 Sagittarius 31, Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 7:02 AM PST .

This New Moon includes a quincunx to Mars, semi-sextile to Jupiter, trine to Saturn and square to Uranus. Challenging aspects to two planets of independence (Mars and Uranus) urge caution in terms of pursuing personal desires. The trine to Saturn implies that careful consideration and working within the realistic limits of the world will pay dividends. Travel, education, risking for greater gain and other expansiive Sagittarian activities are favored. This New Moon could be significant for people born around November 30-December 4, May 28-June 2, August 31-September 4, or February 27-March 3.

Mercury turns direct, Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 6:25 PM PST .

With the planet of commerce and communication moving direct, it is reasonable to sign those contracts, and move forward with other significant paperwork or plans involving lots of details. Mental concentration and focus may improve. Logic, analysis, and common sense are more accessible.

Jupiter semi-squares Pluto, Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 3:50 PM PST .

Excesses are possible in regard to joint resources, debts, intimacy, or intense desires. People may be inclined to overeat, overspend, or indulge excessively in other sensual or sexual pursuits. This combination can be positively directed into activities that involve a breadth of intellectual knowledge or exploration (Jupiter) along with intense, probing, research-oriented scrutiny (Pluto).

Mars turns direct, Friday, December 9, 2005 at 8:05 PM PST .

Be willing to take the initiative. A stronger focus is indicated in terms of putting yourself first, making sure you look after your own needs—including keeping your body healthy. Direct, forthright action is favored.

Mercury enters Sagittarius, Monday, December 12, 2005 at 1:20 PM PST .

Talk could be cheap—and there’s lots of it. This is a highly verbal combination that can indicate the super salesperson, the charming gambler, the brilliant orator, or other individuals who use their minds or communication skills to excite other people or pursue something bigger and better in life. With this gregarious, extraverted combination, people may find it easier to make friends.

Venus enters Aquarius, Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 7:59 AM PST .

When the planet of love and affection enters the sign of independence and revolution, a bit of ambivalence is likely. This placement is excellent for friendships—for associations in which people appreciate each other’s uniqueness, accepting and understanding one another. In romantic partnerships, some hot/cold interactions are possible. The closeness orientation of Venus can compete with the desire for separate space that Aquarius represents. The best way to bring these two sides together is through their shared air element: communication and openness.

Full Moon, 23 Gemini 48, Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 8:17 AM PST .

This Full Moon could be more emotionally intense than most, as the Sun is conjunct Pluto—the all-or-nothing planet. The balancing act will be between (everyday) knowledge and inspired wisdom; between the near-at-hand and faraway. Restlessness about competing goals and values are likely. This Full Moon could be important for people born around June 12-17, December 16-19, September 16-20, or March 14-18. The time is ripe for deeply analyzing future plans and establishing clear priorities.

Jupiter squares Saturn, Friday, December 16, 2005 at 9:17 PM PST .

These two planets represent opposite polarities, but taking the best of both can be highly effective. If we allow optimism and pessimism to war within our psyches, we will be uncomfortable. We could feel torn between a confident, full-speed-ahead, risk-taking approach versus a cautious, consolidate-your-gains attitude. The key is to do some of both—planning carefully ahead of time and considering what might go wrong, and then, once we have determined what is important to do, acting with full enthusiasm and faith. The best blend is prudent preparation followed by expansive expertise.

Sun enters Capricorn, Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 10:36 AM PST .

Accomplishment becomes more important. When the Sun moves into Capricorn, the ego and self-esteem are more tied to material achievements, duty and responsibility. Doing the right thing is vital. Taking care of business is high on the priority list. People want to be proud of their expertise, status, career, and contributions to society. They take duties (parental and vocational) more seriously. They are willing to work hard to attain lasting results.

Venus turns retrograde, Saturday, December 24, 2005 at 1:38 AM PST .

When the planet of love, affection, pleasure and finances turns retrograde, extra caution is indicated in regard to major purchases of luxuries. Be very sure before signing on the dotted line or whipping out a credit card. The time is right for introspection in regard to love relationships, money matters, or sources of gratification in your life. This is an opportunity for a new phase in terms of enjoying yourself.
