Traditionally, New Moons are auspicious times for initiating action. Projects begun at a New Moon are "born" as the patterns emphasize fresh, new perspectives. Many people will plan to start a promotional campaign, open a business, break ground for construction, and make other commitments to a new direction at the time of a New Moon. As the Moon increases in light (toward the Full Moon), growth and increase are emphasized metaphorically for whatever we initiate at the New Moon.
Each sign is associated with particular areas of interest or activities, so selecting an appropriate New Moon sign is a good idea. Some general tips are listed below for New Moons in each of the zodiac signs.
Aries New Moon : initiate action that will raise your energy level or strengthen you physically; start an exercise program; commit to a new project that involves adventure, independence, speed, metal tools or weapons, men, manual labor, daring, construction, the outdoors, or any strongly personal focus. Pioneering, assertive action is favored. Be self-directed. Pursuits that allow you to be more fully yourself are appropriate.
Taurus New Moon: initiate action that will increase your financial or material base or add to the comfort level in your life; start projects that enhance your sensual pleasures; begin businesses that have to do with good food, drink, the Earth, cash, art, women, beauty, or material "goodies." The focus is on what you earn, own and enjoy. The keynote is to bring more stability, comfort, pleasure, or money into your life.
Gemini New Moon : begin a new class (as teacher or student); initiate action that will enhance your communication skills or improve your tools for commerce or communication. Focus on projects that involve flexibility, dexterity, or eye-mind-hand coordination. Projects involving the media, relatives, your neighborhood, transportation, information, paperwork, or just about any intellectual tasks are favored. Curiosity and objective reasoning are probably more available to you. Multi-tasking may come a little easier.
Cancer New Moon : initiate action within the home, involving family members, or the domestic environment. Projects that emphasize safety, security, the homeland (patriotism), pets, nurturing, women, land, real estate, food, clothing, shelter (e.g., hotels) are favored. Perhaps you will start a family business. You may delve into early childhood memories, explore networks of inter-dependency, or be extra caring and helpful toward others. Since the Moon rules the public, any business ventures, which involve lots of public contact, would also be appropriate to begin
Leo New Moon : initiate action in regard to children, loved ones, romance, creativity, gambling, speculation (including in the Stock Market), recreation, or publicity and promotional campaigns. This is a time to begin anything that strikes you as exciting, feeds your self-esteem, strengthens your leadership skills, emphasizes dramatic instincts or provides an adrenaline rush. Look for ways to shine, to be dynamic, center-stage, admired and noteworthy.
Virgo New Moon : initiate action that will improve your physical functioning, raise your level of efficiency or productivity (particularly on the job, but in other arenas as well), enhance your nutritional practices, or involve lots of facts and figures. Projects involving health, repairs, handicrafts, technical matters, research, information, service, or close, careful attention to details are favored. Seek out pursuits that offer tangible results in the future. Technical expertise is highlighted, along with colleagues, and activities in which you can play the role of support staff or back up.
Libra New Moon : initiate a relationship or initiate action to bring more balance, beauty, and gratification into a relationship. You may want to begin a significant partnership (marriage, business, etc.). Projects that involve teamwork, negotiations, social skills, an attractive demeanor or appearance, beauty, art, diplomacy, charm, aesthetic skills, or cooperation are favored. People fields are highlighted.
Scorpio New Moon : initiate action that will increase your self-mastery (e.g., stop smoking; stop drinking; control spending, etc.). Businesses that involve physical or mental prowess, politics, intense exertion or danger or risk, life-and-death matters, sexuality, or constant crises are favored for new beginnings at this time. You may want to sign up for a loan or otherwise deal with issues of joint resources (return on investment, money from others, debts, taxes, etc.). New directions could arise in regard to intimacy, hidden matters, taboos, or anything that enthralls and deeply fascinates you.
Sagittarius New Moon : initiate action in terms of travel, education, other countries or cultures, religion, philosophy, or anything that expands the physical, mental or spiritual horizons. You may want to start projects that involve big dreams and schemes, writing, publishing, universities, the law, the court system, science, or major growth and expansion. Uplifting, inspirational motifs are highlighted. "Going for the gusto" is the theme.
Capricorn New Moon : initiate action in regard to business in general, or dealing with authority figures, parental issues, mentoring, or anything that emphasizes duty, responsibility, hard work, dedication, pragmatism, and "the bottom line." Commercial ventures that are appropriate include anything with minerals, rocks, stones or gems; gerontology or anything involving the aged; survival jobs; projects that showcase your expertise or authority or offer an opportunity to raise your status and influence. Aquarius New Moon : initiate action in fields of technology, networking, computers, anything new age or nonstandard; group endeavors (e.g., a group practice); electronics, inventions, progressive ideas, anything offbeat or a little weird. Now is the time to go outside the Establishment, to break the rules, to seek out the cutting edge. Projects that feature humanitarian activity or a future focus are favored. A likely skill is seeing multiple options and endless possibilities.
Pisces New Moon : initiate action in regard to visualization, art, beauty, nature, dreams, mystical or transcendent pursuits; glamour industries; religious or spiritual activities; the sea; drugs; alcohol; mental or physical health; intuitive insights, anything infinitely large (e.g., outer space) or infinitesimally small (microbiology). Poetry, singing, song-writing, fiction, or similar outlets are favored. You are apt to be more sensitive and open to "the vibes" around you. Ventures that involve hospitals, prisons, ashrams, or otherworldly images would be appropriate as well. Compassion is highlighted. |
